We gotta start it off with a positive jam…

Today, a few friends and I went down to Stewart Park for “The Positive Jam” music festival (the first annual according to someone, I can’t remember who).  There were five bands that played: Caution Children, Rural Alberta Advantage, Deer Tick, The Felice Brothers and The Hold Steady.  It was a very busy day and it was a lot of fun.  We definitely got our fill of music.  I didn’t bring my camera because I didn’t want to have to worry about it, thus the absence of pictures above this post.  I did get to briefly meet the keyboard/accordion/mustached member of the Hold Steady, Franz Nicolay, which was cool.

The Hold Steady rocked.  Deer Tick was my other personal favorite.  I’ve been listening to them a lot lately.  Also, my group stuck around and the violin player from the Felice Brothers gave us a few of their CDs after we told him we were college students and it was clear we weren’t going to be buying any of the t-shirts he was selling near the exit of the parking lot.  So I will definitely be listening to some more of them in the coming weeks.

Really fun show and it definitely started off the semester with a positive jam.  Peace.
