Orientation.
The trip to Ithaca was great. I met some cool people. I got to see the campus for the first time, which is a odd way to do things and I don’t think I would recommend it to people looking for schools but for me, I wasn’t at all worried. I had heard such great things about the film program, the campus and the area that I was confident in my decision despite the fact that I hadn’t vistited the campus. The campus has a great feel and is situated on the side of a hill so I’m happy to say that I’ll get good exercise just walking/biking around. Ithaca has about 30,000 people and is definitely a college town, housing both Ithaca College and Cornell. The Commons area in downtown Ithaca is really cool. My mom and brother and I walked around a little bit on Friday and ate at the award winning, mostly-vegetarian restaurant called The Moosewood Restaurant. It was delicious.
I’m very excited for this new part of my life to start. I’m excited to be apart of the Park School of Communications, the Ithaca College community and the Finger Lake region of New York. It’s going to be a very big change but I think I’m ready and I know I will learn a lot and have some fun along the way too.
I was almost all pre-registered for my classes, I only picked up a .5 credit Environmental Seminar. Other then that I’m taking Intro to Film, Cinema Production 1, East/West Cinema, and Episodes in Western Art. All of which are in the late afternoon and evening which will be nice, but I hope to not be a total lazy person, but it will nice to have the luxury of not having a class before 1 p.m. the first semester. I know that won’t be something that I should get used to but I’ll take it.
It’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to jumping in and starting film classes and meeting a lot of new people and being exposed to so many new ideas. It’ll be good. Peace.
