Get it straight.

After my baseball team’s most recent 11-10 victory over Washburn, their head coach took it upon himself to post a game summary on MaxPreps (a high school sports website) about thier poor effort put forth.  Here is what he said:

“In 1st inning. the [Washburn] Millers committed 4 errors contributing to the Pat[riots] 6 unearned runs. The Millers fought back and took a 2 run lead into the bottom of the 7th inning only to give the game to the Pats with an error on a strikeout, a hit batter on a 0-2 count, an infield 1B, a 1B to the outfield and a 1B against a drawn up infield. Defensively, it was the Millers’ poorest effort in the last 2+ years.”

What he declined to mention was that of the 6 runs we scored in the first inning, we had a homerun, so that’s definitely an earned run and by our book we scored 4 earned runs that inning.  Also not mentioned are our 12 hits and only one error in the field.  Sure, they played terribly in the field, but please note that we were SCORCHING the ball and playing very solid in the field.  So if you’re going to try to make excuses for your loss, at least give us the credit for playing well.  Peace.
